Leadership

Lead Pastor: Andrew James

Andrew JamesAndrew James came to First Church in November of 2014 as our lead pastor. He is originally from Vienna, VA (a suburb of Washington, D.C.) He graduated from the U. of Alabama (“Roll Tide”) and recently earned his M.Div at Gordon-Conwell, where he served as Student Body President. He served as a missionary in Pisa, Italy, worked on Capitol Hill as a congressional staffer, and spent the last eight years with Christian Business Men’s Connection (CBMC). He began with CBMC in the DC area and helped to launch their young professional initiative featuring events with many prominent business speakers and groups that focused on discipleship and evangelism. In 2011 he started the Boston chapter of CBMC, a ministry with a strong presence in the Boston business community. His life verses are Isaiah 30:18-21. He and his wife Becky have two young boys. He loves spending time with them, playing pick up basketball, walking along Halibut Pt. in Rockport, reading presidential biographies and pouring over baseball statistics (ask him about Papi’s HR record). He is so grateful to serve the Lord at First Church!

MikeHaddad

Mike is a New Englander at heart, born and raised in Foxborough, MA where he came to know Christ through the ministries of his youth pastor at his local church. In 2009 Mike met his now wife, Norma, and they attended the Moody Bible Institute together graduating in 2014. Now he and Norma are attending seminary at Gordon-Conwell where Mike is working on his Masters of Divinity and Norma is working on her Masters of Arts in Theology. They both share a strong passion and desire to minister to God’s people in the North East. In his free time Mike enjoys hiking, fishing, throwing the frisbee with his wife, watching the Patriots and the Bruins, and of course reading his Bible and praying.

Traditional Music and Worship: James Cassell

James CassellThough originally from Southern California, James was secretly always a New Englander at heart. After 18 straight years in warm weather and without any real season changes, he came to Gordon College to study Piano and Political Science and quickly realized where his true home was. A pianist for nearly 20 years, he graduated from Gordon in 2007 with a background in piano and conducting classes, with 10 years experience as a violinist (one year in the Gordon Symphonic Orchestra), and then three years in the College Choir there. His current passions are mastering the organ and road biking, so you may see him on the road sometime!
