Part of our Mission at First Church is to serve Jesus Christ in the world. We are encouraged in the Bible to feed the hungry, to share the “good news” of Jesus Christ in our local communities and globally.
We love the idea of short term missions and support our people as they minister around the world. Rick Denton went to Romania this summer with E3. Here’s a great video of their trip. And here is a report from E3 leadership!
We are involved with the following ministries through prayer, financial gifts, short term mission trips and special projects:
Local
Stop Hunger Now – We invite and include our neighbors to help us package meals for the world’s hungry people.
Place of Promise is a residential program designed to help those who are hurting, lost, and broken to choose and find Life. It owns four houses in Lowell, MA which have become not only a home for the men, women, and children who live there, but it is also a place where they can find promise for their futures. This ministry is led by Beth Kidd, Executive Director.
Pregnancy Care Center has been helping women and men in the community make informed decisions about unexpected pregnancy, sexual integrity and recovery from post-abortion trauma since 1985.
Bread and Roses provides free meals, clothing, hygiene products, childcare supplies and medical needs to the Lawrence community since 1980. We provide meals for their soup kitchen that prepares a three-course meal, homemade soup to dessert, for more than 150 people – men, women and children who are in need.
Serenity House – This ministry, located in Topsfield, supplies housing and help to those with crippling addictions.
